It’s the start of a new year — and right now, you’re probably thinking about what you want to do differently.
Maybe it’s the same list you’ve made before:
- Have a functional wardrobe
- Dress with ease every morning
- Losing 10 kg to fit those clothes
- Feel like your best self with your clothing pieces.
You want to move forward…
But year after year, something always seems to get in the way.
What if this year, you cleared what’s been holding you back — for good?
Engaging a personal stylist will take away all of your concerns.
Most of us carry beliefs we aren’t even aware of.
Beliefs like:
“I hate shopping – it’s so frustrating.”
“I don’t know how to put a stylish outfit together.”
“I am not happy with my body nor my purchases to cover it.”
“Wardrobe full of clothes, but I have nothing to wear.”
Can any of this resonate with you?
You are not alone with your style struggles!
Because most of us never got the kind of education we desperately need.
Let’s be honest, the retail industry is not always on our side; they want to make money by selling you something new and give you the impression that your current items are not good enough or there is something wrong with your body. They don’t come take your measurements and produce clothes to your specifications. This makes it hard to find clothes that fit, feel good, and complement your personality, body shape, colour, and current lifestyle.
I like to share my personal experience. I am an English-speaking stylist who lives in Zurich and is learning German.
As a freelance stylist, I’ve witnessed this on both continents many times over the years. When I take my clients on personal shopping trips or go out on my own to browse shops and discover new products, the store staff I meet are young and have little industry experience (because they are young and probably less costly for employers). They speak the local language but lack the styling knowledge to give correct advice. This is sometimes also obvious in store window displays, even in reputable luxury stores, due to their visual merchandiser knowledge and skill set.
To make a long story short, as a consultant, I frequently witness how poorly store staff or so-called fashion advisors advise us (on style, colour, or fabrics or…). And, as you might expect, they regard me as someone out shopping with a friend when they give this recommendation. This is always an eye-opening moment for my clients when I point this out and explain what they need to know (because they receive style education while working with me).
You might also see this on TV, especially if you watch the news. Observe the presenters’ clothing, makeup, and/or hair colour (I often find myself commenting and saying, “Who dressed you?” Who chose this colour for you? Because I expect more from these celebrities and/or the people who work with them)
This year can be different..
Style is a language that you can learn with the right guidance and support (as I am studying German, I can guarantee you that it will take me longer). Fashion is only a tool. Before investing in current fashion items, consider seeking style education from a qualified personal stylist (the best investment you could make for yourself).
Warmest,
Rahsan
