These days, it feels like summer is almost here as the temperature in Zurich begins to rise. Although I don’t know what kind of summer we will have this year, I felt it would be appropriate to dedicate the May article to summer outfits and colours.
As dark colours absorb heat, we don’t usually associate them with summer or warm weather. However, there are ways to create outfits that will help you achieve a summery look whilst also complementing your skin tone and natural contrast. The simplest way to create a summer vibe is with dresses. The second best option is a skirt or short.
- Fabric
Select a lightweight, floaty, thinner fabric – a sign of sunny summer days. - Pattern
Choose patterns rather than solids in your dark colours. - Accessories
Make use of your accessories to add flair and a summery vibe. For example, floral pieces evoke the summer months, a blue necklace evokes the beach, or orange earrings signify sunset. - Colour
Choose cool overtone colours of your palette that remind you of water, holiday, beach, and adventure, such as greens and blues. You could mix a bright colour with a dark colour to provide an illusion of high value contrast. Regardless of the season, the most important factor in choosing colours is the correct contrast level.
Regardless of the weather, stay cool. As I always say, what you wear can change the way you feel.
Warmest,
Rahşan
