How to Choose Flattering Prints

Ladies, Can you identify the prints that will work best for you or not ?

I’m curious how many women can reply this question.

Outfits with print or solid! Have you ever noticed that when you see a woman wearing an outfit with a print and think, ‘Wow, that looks great on her,’ but when you wear something similar, you realise it doesn’t look good on you at all?

When selecting a pattern, consider your value contrast (the difference between the lightest and darkest elements of your face). If you don’t have a flawless complexion, such as freckles, curly hair or multitone hair (highlights or grey hair), certain patterns will work better for you. Of course, your colour contrast will play a role in this decision; are you multicoloured or monochromatic?

Once you know you suit prints physically, the type of print entirely depends on your personality, such as florals for feminine prints; stripes are classic. Prints can be used to camouflage a tummy or distract attention, so it depends on where and how you position them.

To cut a long story short, wear the prints that work for you, the styles that feel like you, and the hues that complement your colouring.

So, here are my three tips for selecting a flattering print.

  • Colour and Contrast of Prints
Knowing your colour palette involves selecting prints that work with your natural level of contrast.
  • Personality of the Print
Yin and Yang personality- Clothing communicates, and different prints represent different personality traits.
  • Scale of the Print
Your facial features? Have you got a big or small bone structure? Are you tall, medium or short? All these questions impact the scale of your ideal print.

Just take a look at a sample of Jennifer Aniston’s outfit, which I try to use to show these points… right and wrong ones.

Warmest,
Rahşan
